It's that time again, competition season! If you are currently enrolled in a business class you have the opportunity to compete in over 86 different categories with the opportunity to attend the NLC in Atlanta, Georgia. Please check out the competition information to learn more about how they work. Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations to ACS FBLA for completing the Super Sweeps! In order to receive the Super Sweeps certificate a chapter must complete certain activities surrounding recruitment. Also, congratulations to ACS FBLA for being recognized for getting Honor Chapter at the Fall Officers Conference! Thank you to all officers who attended for your excellent attitudes and for representing our chapter well! In our November meeting we covered a lot of important dates coming up for November and December. For starters, in November we will be doing the Wendy's Night Out event, members please encourage your friends and family to go eat out that night because half of the proceeds will go to helping our chapter! On November 12th we will have our first Lead2Feed meeting, so if you are interested and helping out please come! On November 23rd and 24th we will be decorating Christmas Trees at Avoca. Teams of five will come up with a theme and decorate the trees as how they see fit. The Christmas Parade will be December 3rd we will decorate the trailer in the theme "White Christmas." Please bring anything white or Christmas themed to decorate with. Also, please dress up in white. The Christmas Variety Show will be December 4th in the auditorium. We will need help with handing out programs, lighting, sound, tickets, and stage hands. On December 5th, we will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army. If you are interested in signing up please stop by Ms. Mills' room! Lastly, our Christmas Party will be December 16th at The Taste of Italy. Please bring a Dirty Santa gift of less than $5.
The Pizza Kit Fundraiser is in! Please see Ms. Mills to pick up your order form within the next few days. Members are expected to sell at least 5 boxes. We will be taking orders between October 15 and October 29. Please turn your forms in no later than October 29! Checks need made out to ACS FBLA and money is due at the time of the order being placed. Pizza kits will be ready to picked up on November 11th in the afternoon. Thank you to all of those who sell and those who buy!

For October we will be participating in many different activities in order to enjoy the season. Our Halloween Party will be held October 28th in the 1st cafeteria at 6 0'clock. We will play games, enjoy pizza, listen to music, and celebrate the Halloween season! The best costume will win a prize, so please dress up! Sign up sheets for attendance and food are located on the bulletin board and on Ms. Mills' door. We will also have the Officers Fall Conference on October 29th at Longwood University. Officers will learn more about upcoming activities and ways to fulfill their office. Please bring money for food and wear your FBLA t-shirt, nice jeans, and walking shoes.
Thank you to all of those who came out and helped with the business dinner and Scarecrow Walk. FBLA would like to thank B. Perdieu, R. Dalton, and T. Dawson for volunteering to help with the town's National Manufacturing Day. FBLA would also like to thank all of the members who came out Oct. 6th and helped build our Monopoly Man for the Scarecrow Walk. Thank you all!

Volunteers are needed Thursday, October 1st from 5:15-7:30 at Avoca Museum. Two to three volunteers are needed to help with the town's National Manufacturing Event at Avoca on October 1st. Volunteers will help greet local business leaders and government officials and welcome them to the event. Please let Ms. Mill or Tiffany know if you are interested in helping the town sponsor this event by September 30th.
Reminder that FBLA dues are due to Ms. Mills by October 1st in order to be considered a member of FBLA. Dues are $15, please talk to Ms. Mills if you need to set up a payment option. We do not want you to not join just because of the dues. Also, t-shirt orders and money are due to Ms. Mills by October 2nd. T-shirts are $5 per shirt.
The next officers meeting will be September 30th. In this meeting we will be discussing upcoming projects such as Lead2Feed and Super Sweeps. We will also be planning our October activities including: the Scarecrow Walk, the Halloween Party, the Fall Conference, and the Haunted House, so be prepared to plan! Our next group meeting will be October 7th where we will set dates and talk about our October events.
For officers, our next meeting will be September 1st. In this meeting we will cover your roles as an officer, upcoming dates, and come up with ideas to get the year started, so bring your thinking cap! Our next group meeting will be September 9th where we will we install elected officers and get the year started!
Our first meeting will be August 26th in Ms. Mills' room right after school. This meeting will cover more about what FBLA is and what to expect out of the upcoming year. We hope to see you there!
